SAW Temperature Sensors

SENSeOR’s SAW temperature sensors are designed for measurement on multiple temperature range (standard product from -20°C up to 160°C, other ranges available upon request). High temperature SAW sensors are being developed up to 600°C. Hermetically sealed and miniature (e.g. 5mm x 5mm x 1.5mm package), the sensors can be easily installed and can remain in confined spaces or at remote locations for decades without requiring maintenance. The principle of the sensor is based on resonators, a differential structure being chosen for optimal performances.

The sensors can be mounted on a printed circuit board with a SMA connector for antenna or inside a thermowell device (see picture) for a plug-and-play solution to replace your existing wired thermocouple and benefit directly of the advantages offered by a wireless monitoring solution. The sensors are also compatible with a direct integration into materials such as rubber. Moreover, the sensors are proposed with different types of antennas in order to fit with various environments (metallic, non metallic) and dimensional constraints (reduced size Vs standard dipole or monopole antennas, flexible material). To experience the highest performances of the SAW temperature sensors, SENSeOR has developed a portable and autonomous interrogator allowing wireless interrogation up to 4 meters in free space (certified version). Based on SENSeOR’s unique interrogation method, easy-to-use and powered by the USB port of a laptop, this interrogator can be integrated into your existing control system through its multiple interfaces for real-time data acquisition (interfaces: USB, analogue output (volt), others on request such as ZigBee). This interrogator can also be used for stress measurement with SENSeOR’s SAW Stress sensors – see our page “Stress / Pressure Sensors”. In order to give you an easy way to assess the full potential of this innovative technology, SENSeOR has build a demonstration kit including temperature sensors. The kit is delivered with monitoring software for real-time analysis on a laptop.
